Advice for Business Channels

Many Subscribr customers are looking to create YouTube channels to bring leads to their business. This makes a ton of sense - because video is the best way to build authenticity and trust.

But as a business owner, you may not necessarily be, or care to be, a YouTube expert. And it's easy to get overwhelmed with video ideas and a million tasks that you could be doing. So I put this page together with some resources I've found helpful for business channels.

Lead with entertainment, THEN value

This is some great advice from my friend Leroy that specializes in business channels.

I also highly recommend watching Bryan's videos to get a sense of how to structure educational videos.

Focus on a strong opening hook

You must get right to the heart of the video right away. No pre-rolls, calls-to-action, or fluff at the beginning of your videos. Alex Hormozi's videos do this particularly well. Check out these breakdowns, and in particular the hooks shown.

Focus on the packaging

For packaging you can use the Competitor Analysis prompts in the Prompt Library in Ideation Chat to study successful channels in your niche and related niches.

For example, if you're creating thought leadership content with a backend course offering, study Charlie Morgan's channel.

If you're creating videos to promote software, consider studying channels like InstantlyAI or GitHub.

These are just a couple examples. Spend some time on YouTube researching brands you look up to.

Record and edit like a pro

I personally am using this teleprompter. I place an old Android tablet on it as the teleprompter, and I use my iPhone's camera to record. It does require you to find a teleprompter app for the device you're using to display the script. I haven't found one I love, but there are a ton to choose from in the App Store.

Note that many folks I know who record talking head videos prefer not to use a teleprompter. Instead, they hit Record and say one sentence at a time while looking into the camera, repeating multiple times if needed. Then they edit it at the end to take out the pauses and the repeats.

If you're not working with a professional editor, I highly recommend using the editing software Descript. It's very user friendly and has a ton of time-saving features like the ability to automatically remove filler words and enhance audio recording.

One final thing to remember

You don't need a ton of views to generate millions of dollars through YouTube. Because YouTube builds trust and warms leads like nothing else. Even videos with only a few thousand views can generate a ton of highly qualified leads.
