Minimizing Repetitive Content

Subscribr is capable of generating long form YouTube scripts up to 9,600 words. Because AI models are unable to generate this much text in a single prompt, Subscribr first generates an outline and then writes the entire script section by section.

While this approach works very well, it can sometimes lead to repetitive content, as the writing of one section veers into something that was written in a previous section.

The "Edit" step after "Draft" in the script builder is designed to reduce any repetition it finds in the draft. However, if you find that still isn't enough to meet your needs, here are some ways you can continue refining your approach.

For our purposes there are two kinds of repetition:

  • Repetitive phrases
  • Repetitive topics

We will discuss each one below.

Repetitive phrases

If you find that certain phrases are repeated too often, check to see if the phrases are listed exactly in the Advanced Mode of your channel voice. You will find a section called "Common Phrases" which you can adjust if needed to remove those phrases.

If you find there are other phrases which are used repeatedly but are not listed in the common phrases, consider whether they are things like "Picture this" or "here's where it gets interesting", you may be able to resolve this by making some adjustments to the tone or narrative techniques of your script

If the writing sounds too forced: especially with phrases like "buckle up" or "here's where it gets interesting," this could be a sign that the tone needs some refinement. In general, AIs tend to go overboard when asked to write in certain tones like "motivational" or "engaging". Similarly, you can avoid phrases like "picture this" or "imagine this" by removing references to "vivid descriptions" in the narrative techniques, or "engaging" in the tone. Try removing these references from your channel voice to see if it helps.

You can try making adjustments to the Channel Voice in the Advanced Mode, or switch back to Simple Mode and simply type your feedback about the current voice like "It's using phrases like 'buckle up' and 'heres where it gets interesting' too often, please adjust" and it will recommend specific changes to make to your channel voice. This should be a big help.

Repetitive topics

Is it a specific topic or event that is repeated, or is it more of a theme?

Repeated facts => Section 2 and 4 both discuss the first iPhone having buttons instead of a touchscreen

Repeated theme => Section 2, 4, and 6 all talk about how secretive the iPhone launch was

Repeated facts

If a topic is repeated, it could be that the script does not have enough research to write about unique topics for each section of the script.

In this case, you could go back and add more research for the script section you'd like to adjust. You can do this by either pasting in bullet points about the topic into the "Research" tab on the script section, or by adding new research sources on the "Research" page in the script builder, then returning to the script section on the "Draft" page and clicking the "Refresh Research" button.

Alternately, if you determine that enough research has been provided to cover the topic, consider adjusting the outline in the "Plan" tab for the script section to more clearly describe what you do and don't want to focus on in this section.

Once these changes are made, click the "Generate Draft" button on the "Plan" tab for the script section in order to regenerate the draft for this section.

Repeated theme

If certain themes are being repeated too often, review the "Topic" field when creating your script, as well as the "Unique Angle" and "Audience Goals" determined by the "Frame" step. If the repeating theme you uncovered is being mentioned in these places, you can try editing the field to remove the mention of it. Then return back to the "Draft" step and click the "Refresh Outline" item in the dropdown menu at the top in order to recreate your entire outline and draft.

Still having trouble?

Please note that although Subscribr does its best to produce an excellent draft of the script, for best results a small amount of fine tuning by hand may still be required.

However, if you are finding a significant amount of repeating content and are unable to resolve it using the steps above, we're happy to review your script on a case-by-case basis to see if there's anything we can improve. Please use the help bubble in the app to contact us, making sure to provide details such as:

  • The script in question (you can even copy and paste the URL from Subscribr)
  • What phrases or topics you are noticing repetition of
  • Any other details you can provide (the more, the better)
